Vampire Knight has two ways to a full shelf in VIZ’s box sets: Box Set 1 (volumes 1–10) plus Box Set 2 (volumes 11–19), or the Complete Box Set on its own. The two older boxes date from 2010 and 2014; the Complete Box Set was released on October 22, 2024.
What each box lists
VIZ’s record for Box Set 1 names manga volumes 1–10, a Cross Academy Day Class 2011 planner and a case for the box. Box Set 2 carries its range in the title, Volumes 11–19, together with a “Premium” that VIZ does not itemize, so its extras show as unknown here. The Complete Box Set is described as the entire Vampire Knight series with a Day Class planner and an exclusive art book. This map reads “entire series” as volumes 1–19, the range the two earlier boxes add up to.
Choosing a route
Owning Box Set 1 only: Box Set 2 adds 11–19 with no repeat, while the Complete Box Set repeats ten volumes. Owning both older boxes: the Complete Box Set adds no numbered volume, only its art book and planner. We do not claim the planners in the older and newer boxes are the same item, because VIZ names them differently.
Keep extras out of the count
Planners, cases and art books are extras and never fill a numbered gap. The box-set duplicate check shows how to run the same comparison by hand, and what a complete set actually completes explains why a “complete” label is not a contents list on its own.
