What each edition covers

Numbering: My Hero Academia English single-volume numbering. It describes mapped story units only; separately documented extras remain separate.

Mapped coverage

Calculate overlap and new coverage

Select the numbered units and editions you already own, then choose candidate editions to compare. The result uses only this series' numbering system.

VIZ’s two My Hero Academia box sets split the 42 numbered volumes at 20: Box Set 1 holds volumes 1–20 and Box Set 2 holds 21–42. Each also lists a double-sided poster and a 48-page booklet, and neither extra is a numbered volume.

Box Set 2 is dated, not yet shipping

VIZ lists Box Set 2 with a release date of November 24, 2026, as of our check on October 20, 2026. Its description calls it the final 22 volumes. Until then the only one of the two that VIZ shows as released is Box Set 1, with a release date of October 18, 2022. Check the publisher page linked in the table before ordering, because a scheduled release date can move.

The 20-to-21 boundary

Volume 21 is the first numbered volume after Box Set 1. The guide to what comes after Box Set 1 checks that handover against VIZ’s separate volume 21 record. This map uses the same boundary, so a collector who owns Box Set 1 plus single volumes 21–25 would see Box Set 2 repeat five volumes and add 26–42, seventeen new ones.

What the numbers do not include

VIZ says the booklet in each box collects the bonus illustrations and author commentary that appeared on the covers of the Japanese volumes. That is supplementary material, not a story volume. Spin-offs, novels and guidebooks carry their own numbering and are not part of these 42 units, so owning one of them does not tick a box here.
