The original Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Box Set contains manga volumes 1–27, The Ties That Bind novel, and a double-sided poster. This page maps the original paperback numbering, not the separately numbered Fullmetal Edition hardcovers.
The novel does not become volume 28
The story-volume selector stops at 27 because the included novel is a different publication type. Owning that novel separately does not fill a missing manga volume. Conversely, covering manga 1–27 does not assert that the extras are on your shelf.
If you own original paperback volumes 1–18, the box repeats eighteen and adds 19–27: nine new manga units. If those eighteen books are Fullmetal Edition hardcovers instead, do not enter their spine numbers into this selector. The launch does not supply a verified conversion for that format.
An identity check before an overlap check
Read the title and imprint on the books you own, then compare them with this table’s named numbering system. The tool can calculate a correct difference only after the edition identity is correct. It will not guess equivalent contents from a shared series title.
The exact set ISBN and VIZ source are recorded below. For other cases where an extra book changes the physical count without extending the numbered story, use the guidebook and bonus-book explanation.
