Privacy and Local Shelf Storage

Your shelf stays in your browser

The comparison tool works without an account. Selecting volumes does not send your shelf to us. If you choose Save shelf, the site stores that series’ volume and edition identifiers in your browser’s local storage. Reset removes that series’ saved selection. Clearing browser site data also removes saved shelves.

Exports contain your selected identifiers and a canonical site link, without affiliate links. A share link contains its selection in the URL fragment after #. The fragment is not sent in the HTTP page request, but anyone you give the full link to can read its contents. Only share selections you intend to disclose.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics is off until you choose Allow analytics in the controls below. If allowed, the site sends page views and comparison-tool usage to the Sentinel network analytics property, and can record clicks on edition-specific Amazon links. It sends the page path, not query strings or share fragments. The site does not send selected shelf volumes, local shelf contents or search terms as analytics parameters. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in this site’s configuration.

Google may process device, browser and network information as part of providing analytics. See Google’s explanation of partner-site data. Our first-party analytics consent choice is stored in your browser. You can turn measurement off with Keep analytics off; that stops this site’s event sending and clears its accessible Google Analytics cookies. Clear site data if you also want to remove the saved preference and shelves.

Hosting and external links

Cloudflare serves the site and processes normal request information for delivery and security. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Publisher, GitHub and Amazon links open other services with their own privacy practices. Clicking an Amazon affiliate link includes this site’s tracking ID so qualifying purchases may be attributed to us; your local shelf is not attached.

Keeping this site’s Google Analytics off does not control Amazon’s practices on Amazon’s own site.

Your choices

The optional analytics controls below remain available on every page. You can decline analytics and still read every article and use the comparison tools. Withdrawing permission stops future site measurement; it does not itself erase information already collected. Saved shelf data and your analytics preference remain in this browser until you remove them or your browser clears them.

The public corrections inbox is on GitHub. Do not submit personal contact details, receipts or saved shelf exports there. This site does not operate a newsletter or a user-registration system.
