Vinland Saga: Deluxe vs English Hardcover Numbering

The volume numbers inside our Vinland Saga Deluxe map refer to Japanese original volumes, not the spine numbers of the regular English collected hardcovers. All editions in this map are English-language books. “Japanese original” identifies the numbering system, not the language you are buying.

Identify the unit before entering a shelf

The publisher’s distributor lists Deluxe 1–8 with their original-volume contents. For example, Deluxe 3 contains original volumes 7–9 and Deluxe 4 contains 10–12. The regular English hardcover series is a different set of physical books. Its book number should not be entered as though it were an original-volume number.

Use this short identification sequence:

1. Read the exact edition name and ISBN on your book.
2. Find the publisher or authorized distributor’s contents for that edition.
3. Translate the contents into the original-volume units named above the tool.
4. Select those units, or select an already mapped deluxe that you own.

If step two does not establish the contents, leave that book out of the calculation until it can be checked. An apparently precise answer based on the wrong unit is less helpful than an explicit unknown.

A worked switching example

Suppose your verified contents, regardless of physical format, cover original volumes 1–8. Deluxe 3 adds original volume 9 and repeats 7–8. Buying Deluxe 4 instead supplies 10–12 but leaves 9 missing. The number of physical books on the shelf is not used in either calculation.

This example compares contents only. It does not judge paper, binding or physical dimensions. Use the eight-book Deluxe contents map with your actual holdings, and check the numbering label whenever you switch series or formats.
