After Naruto Volume 27: Omnibus 10 or Box Set 2?
Compare Naruto's two format routes after original volume 27: Omnibus 10 covers 28–30, while Box Set 2 covers 28–48.
After original Naruto volume 27, 3-in-1 Edition 10 starts with volume 28. Box Set 2 also starts at 28 but continues through 48. Both can be valid next purchases; they serve different reading and spending targets.
The distributor’s Naruto 3-in-1 Edition 10 record explicitly lists volumes 28, 29 and 30. VIZ’s Box Set 2 record lists 28–48. Those individual contents statements establish the comparison; a generic “three-in-one” formula is not the source.
Choose the amount of story you want next
| You own | You want to reach | Candidate | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original 1–27 | 30 | 3-in-1 Edition 10 | Adds 28–30, with no overlap |
| Original 1–27 | 48 | Box Set 2 | Adds 28–48, with no overlap |
| Original 1–27 | 48 | 3-in-1 Edition 10 alone | Adds 28–30; leaves 31–48 missing |
| Original 1–29 | 30 | 3-in-1 Edition 10 | Repeats 28–29 and adds 30 |
| Original 1–30 | 48 | Box Set 2 | Repeats 28–30 and adds 31–48 |
The last example means eighteen new original volumes and three duplicates. This is our arithmetic from the publisher ranges, assuming the continuous shelves shown. If you are missing an earlier volume, list that gap separately.
Does “Shippuden” restart the manga at volume 1?
Not in this comparison. VIZ uses the Shippuden description for Box Set 2, but the English manga contents remain original 28–48. “Box 2,” “3-in-1 10” and “original 28” are three different labels. Writing the format next to the number prevents a retailer search for “Naruto 10” from sending you to the wrong point in the story.
If you want the next small reading installment, compare the omnibus with original singles 28–30. If you want coverage through 48, compare complete orders that reach 48. The low price of one omnibus cannot establish that an entire route is cheaper, because it does not cover the box’s full range.
Using the shelf tool with an omnibus
The Naruto calculator currently offers the three box sets as collected-edition choices. To record ownership of this specific omnibus, select original volumes 28–30 individually. Mark everything through 30 only if you also own every earlier original volume.
If you have original 1–27 and Omnibus 10, then select Box Set 2 as a candidate. The result should show owned 1–30, new coverage 31–48 and overlap 28–30. The relevant box-set retailer link appears beside that result; buying is optional, and a target you already own does not need another purchase.
For cost comparisons, use the box-versus-singles worksheet. For the complete box boundaries, use the Naruto series map. This guide does not claim a binding or paper-quality advantage for either format.
