No Regrets Color Edition vs Two Paperbacks: What Repeats?

Compare the English Attack on Titan: No Regrets hardcover with volumes 1 and 2, using checked ISBNs and a purchase map for partially complete shelves.

The English Attack on Titan: No Regrets Complete Color Edition is a one-book route to the complete No Regrets story. The paperback route is volumes 1 and 2. If you already own both paperbacks, you need no further purchase to complete that story. The hardcover offers color and publisher-described bonus material, rather than another numbered installment after volume 2.

Keep No Regrets on its own line in your collection list. Owning the main Attack on Titan series does not establish ownership of this separate prequel. Conversely, buying No Regrets does not fill a missing volume of the main series. Our final Attack on Titan omnibus comparison answers that different question.

Match the English edition before comparing an order

This identity audit was checked on 2 October 2026 against Kodansha’s complete color edition, paperback volume 1 and paperback volume 2. The publisher’s No Regrets series listing identifies a complete two-volume series; the volume 2 record explicitly identifies the final volume.

These are print ISBNs. Kodansha also lists separate digital ISBNs, so an ebook record should not be used to identify a physical copy. The Amazon destinations were checked independently, rather than calculated from ISBNs. For a secondhand listing, inspect the selected format, language and condition; a matching series name alone is insufficient.

What to buy for each starting shelf

The table treats “complete” as the No Regrets story, not every extra or every Attack on Titan spin-off. Hardcover overlap below means repeated story coverage, not an assertion that color pages and paperback pages are visually identical.

No Regrets already ownedWhat remains on the paperback routeWhat the complete color book changesPractical choice
Neither paperbackVolumes 1 and 2Gives the complete story in one different formatCompare the delivered two-book order with the hardcover
Volume 1 onlyVolume 2Repeats the first part while supplying the restBuy 2 for completion; choose the hardcover only if its format and extras matter to you
Volume 2 onlyVolume 1Repeats the final part while supplying the beginningBuy 1 for completion, unless you deliberately want the color edition
Both paperbacksNothingRepeats the already-complete story in color, with advertised extrasKeep your books; another purchase is optional

If you already own the complete color edition, neither paperback is needed for story completion. Do not order a paperback simply because its number is absent from your shelf list: you own the collected route.

There is no No Regrets calculator on this site. This static ownership table is the scope of the comparison. It does not make chapter-level claims about individual bonus stories.

Compare the cost of the books still missing

Use final delivered totals for matching condition and language. Let C be the color hardcover total, P1 the volume 1 total and P2 the volume 2 total.

  • Starting with nothing: the hardcover premium is C − (P1 + P2).
  • Owning volume 1: the extra cost of choosing the hardcover over completion is C − P2.
  • Owning volume 2: that extra cost is C − P1.
  • Owning both: there is no completion cost; the entire C is an optional format-and-extras purchase.

A negative result means the hardcover order is cheaper at those particular totals. Include shipping only once if the two paperbacks share an order. Do not treat money already spent on an owned book as another future purchase cost. The box-set versus singles worksheet explains the same remaining-order principle for larger collections.

Color, extras and the page-count discrepancy

Kodansha describes bonus stories and illustrations in the color hardcover, but the checked description does not enumerate them. We therefore do not assign an extra-story count or claim that every paperback supplement is reproduced unchanged.

The hardcover’s publisher summary says 400 pages, while its structured book information says 384. Both paperback records list 192. Although 192 + 192 = 384, that arithmetic cannot prove identical contents, measure the added material or resolve the publisher’s discrepancy. Page count is excluded from our coverage and value calculation.

Choose the hardcover if you want that documented color format and complete-story route. Keep or complete the paperbacks if the goal is simply reading the prequel without repeating an owned part. We have not physically compared binding, paper, print color or translation, and make no quality winner claim. See our edition-checking method and ISBN checklist for the limits of catalog-based comparisons.
